Clara ApolloOriginally from the New Forest, Clara moved away in 1979 to nurse in Oxford at the John Radcliffe hospital. Here she became disillusioned with the so-called health service, and moved to London in 1983 to study textile design at the Middlesex University. Working for several years as a costume designer and maker, this hectic way of life resulted in exhaustion and a repetitive strain injury. Clara began her quest for true healing and followed the route of alternative medicine via Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Alexander Technique, CranioSacral therapy, Yoga and Nutrition, eventually merging these with the self healing tool of Chi Kung. Chi Kung training commenced in 1995 with CranioSacral therapist Ged Sumner and co-founder of the College of Chi Kung, resonated with the work profoundly and made a good recovery from the R.S.I. and started to lead beginners classes in 1999. The following, at the start of the new millennium, Clara realised that after 20 years away, it would be good to return to the New Forest bringing Chi Kung and her 10 year old son back with her. After taking a short course in teaching adults at Brockenhurst College, Clara began teaching Chi Kung in Adult education out of Ringwood school, this class continues to run, now from Myrtle Hall in Burley. Gradually as Chi Kung awareness has grown in the area Clara is able to teach both privately and for the New Forest District Council in their Health and Leisure Centres. In 2004 Clara commenced the new teacher training programme with the College of Chi Kung, has graduated and is continuing with advanced practitioner training. She enjoys the creative fun aspect of this healing work, encouraging others to find their own healing potential via the easily accessible exercises. Clara runs collaborative workshops with other alternative health care professionals, see Class Listings and is currently undergoing research on integrating Chi Kung with Reiki and Colourworks. Clara is a Emotrance therapist www.emotrance.com Colourworks teacher www.colourworks.org and Reiki Master/Teacher www.reiki.org offering individual tailored combinations, and prescriptive Chi Kung exercises from her ‘Rose Room’ in Lyndhurst. |
